Supporting GCA

I make it a practice to answer every email we receive. Even if it's just a few lines, I do want people to know that their comments, questions and encouragement are all greatly appeciated. And there are some questions that pop up so frequently that I feel I should answer them more publicly - which is why our Q and A section exists.

One question that comes up repeatedly is how individuals can help support our work here at GCA. I suppose the question comes up because we don't charge for most of our materials. Everything on the site can be downloaded - whether books or messages - for free. We only charge a nominal fee for things we have to put in the mail, and even then we do send out plenty of things for free. So, because we don't emphasize the need for support, people ask if they actually can send us gifts.

The answer is yes. Charitable gifts to Grace Christian Assembly are tax deductible and the money is used to keep the ministry going as well as benefitting those in need that we are able to help. We are a small ministry, fully dependent on God's gracious provision. But He has shown us time and time again that He is "for us," providing for our every need and securing us month-to-month so that we have never had to beg for money or threaten to "go off the air" if people don't immediately send some support.

Sacrificial giving is an integral part of Godly worship. And supporting the work of the gospel is incumbent on everyone who has come to recognize the work of grace in their life. But, so much errant teaching on the subject has been foisted on the churchworld that I wrote a book on the subject called "A New Covenant Guide to Giving." You can find it under the "Read" section of our website.

The apostle Paul wrote, "And let the one who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches." (Gal 6:6) That is the basic principle on which we have always operated. Those who learn from our teaching ought to support GCA for two reasons. (1) In order to keep the ministry going so that others may also hear the message of grace. (2) As an act of thankfulness and worship to God.

But, we equally believe that giving is a private matter between you and God. How much you give, when you give, how you give, is all up to you. As Paul plainly said, "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Cor 9:7) We are so committed to that principle, in fact, that we recently had a Sunday visitor ask why we had not taken up an offering during the service. I forget to tell our visitors that we have a box affixed to the wall in the foyer where people can drop their offerings. But we don't pass a plate. We allow every person to give "as he purposes in his heart."

Still, it should be obvious from his words that Paul's primary assumption on the subject is that each believer will in fact give. That's the proper response to having learned the gospel.

So, that should clear things up. Yes, you can support GCA. Yes, your gifts are tax deductible. And gifts can be mailed to:

Grace Christian Assembly
P.O. Box 1707
Smyrna, TN. 37167

We are ever grateful to the many folk out there who have supported us thus far. It is because of your gifts, and the faithful support of the members of GCA here at home, that we are able to continue broadcasting His grace and mercy to everyone who will listen, trusting all the while that God will continue to provide for His work through His people by His Spirit.
