More notes from Lexington

The man pictured here is Elder D. J. Ward of Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. He is also one of my dearest, beloved friends and a preacher of the gospel for 43 years. He is a preacher, through-and-through. He has had an enormous influence on my thinking and preaching. But, more importantly, he has taught me by example how to be a pastor. When my life reached its lowest ebb, it was Elder Ward who talked me through it and gave me the necessary hope to get up and continue in the ministry. For that, and many other blessings, I am in his debt.
