BY GRACE ALONE - Audio Book

Well, it's finished and finally up on the website. You can find the audio book for "By Grace Alone" under the "Listen" link. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page. The entire book will reside there for a good while. Or, you can just link to each chapter from here!

========================================

GCA Publishing announces the arrival of our second audio book! It's Jim's in-studio reading of his study on the doctrines of grace, entitled "By Grace Alone." Our first audio book was so well-received that we thought we'd follow it up with this point-by-point examination of the five basic theological tenets that lay at the heart of the Protestant Reformation.

This book has been one of our "mainstays" here at GCA and has introduced many people to the doctrines of grace for the first time. It has been widely distributed in manuscript form and as a downloadable PDF.

Now, the entire audio book is available for free, either via streaming audio or as downloadable mp3 audio files. Upload these mp3's to your I-Pod and learn while you work, jog, travel, or even as you read along with the free PDF version! Because, when it comes to our salvation, we know that it's all "By Grace Alone."

Opening and Introduction
Chapter 1: Total Depravity
Chapter 2: Unconditional Election
Chapter 3: Limited Atonement
Chapter 4: Irresistable Grace
Chapter 5: Perseverance of the Saints

I Need One More Hand

Megan claims that this photo is proof that you can play "Rock, Paper, Scissors" without an opponent. I've got rock and paper covered.

Actually, this photo was snapped by Minister Ulysees Wingo as I was preaching from the Main Street pulpit (Thank you, sir!).

This and many other photos from the conference (though not nearly all of them) can be viewed on our SermonAudio page. When you get to SermonAudio.com, just "search" my name or Grace Christian Assembly. When you reach our homepage, you'll find a link at the top that says "Photo Album." Click on that link and then choose "Lexington Conference 2006."

Or, I suppose -- if I were a really, really nice guy -- I could just provide a link.

More notes from Lexington

The man pictured here is Elder D. J. Ward of Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. He is also one of my dearest, beloved friends and a preacher of the gospel for 43 years. He is a preacher, through-and-through. He has had an enormous influence on my thinking and preaching. But, more importantly, he has taught me by example how to be a pastor. When my life reached its lowest ebb, it was Elder Ward who talked me through it and gave me the necessary hope to get up and continue in the ministry. For that, and many other blessings, I am in his debt.

As promised, the message I preached Tuesday morning at the 2006 Sovereign Grace conference is now posted on the home page of our website, or you can listen to it by clicking here: What Did Jesus Accomplish? Posted by Picasa

New Q&A's

By the way, there are two new Q&A's available on the website. It's reached the point where there are so many articles on that page that it's sometimes hard to find the latest entries. But, you can always check the "What's New?" page, found here: What's New?

The two most recent subjects are: "Did God Elect People or a Plan?" and "Household Salvation."

So, go get the new stuff!

Just me & Bo

When you're listening to the mp3 of the Lexington conference message, you will hear me state rather emphatically that I am NOT Bo Hammock. For the last few years, Elder Hammock and I have been confused for one another. Here's a photo to show the reason why.

Elder Bo Hammock pastors down in Florida and we've enjoyed several years of fellowship at the conference. I appreciate his ongoing kindness and gracious demeanor. But, I am not ... as I've pointed out repeatedly ... him. Posted by Picasa

Preaching in Lexington

I've been a lot of places in my time. I've traveled extensively and have performed in some of the largest arenas and stadiums in America. Yet, it's hard to describe the feeling of preaching from the pulpit of Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. And, short of God's providential grace, it's impossible to explain how a guy like me ends up standing in such a place.

The people at Main Street went "above and beyond" this year. The conference was just terrific. The preaching was, across the board, outstanding. And the teaching was high-caliber, Bible-based, doctrinally sound stuff. All in all, it was just a great place to be.

My message Tuesday morning was entitled "What Did Jesus Accomplish on the Cross?" The mp3 will be available from the website shortly.

I'll be writing more and posting pictures here and at SermonAudio. I just wanted to take this moment (since several folk at the conference told me that they frequent our site) to thank everyone at Main Street for their kindness, and the outpouring of generosity, love, and support.

More soon! Posted by Picasa

Heading for Lexington

The image seen here is the sunlight shining through the back window of my CR-V, casting the shadow of our website address (which is imprinted on the window). I just liked the look of it.

The packing is nearly done. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, Meg and I will hit the road and by day's end we'll be in Lexington. Then, after a quick night's sleep at the Marriott, "If the Lord will, we shall live" and preach from the pulpit at Main Street once again.

Thanks for all the notes of encouragement. I have followed the advice of the several people who have adjured me to avoid fish this year. :-)

I'm really looking forward to the conference and my goal at this moment is to reach Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. At that point, I will be able to settle into a pew, the preaching part of my journey will be behind me, and I will bask in the Word of God as it is preached by able friends and brethren.

Pray for us as we travel. Posted by Picasa
