A Quick Update

It's Sunday evening as I write this. We spent last week up in Lexington at the 2007 Sovereign Grace Conference. Once again, Main Street Baptist Church hosted a wonderful, enriching event and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in and out of the pulpit. Pictures from the conference will be posted to our Google picture page in just a few days. Most of them are still in the camera and I want to add Mike's photos as well.

In a completely unexpected bit of providence, I talked a bit about my former career as a professional drummer. I haven't played drums in any capacity for more than ten years, but the regular conference drummer was unable to attend this year and they were looking for someone to jump in. I love the way Michelle plays the organ and -- after a bit of consternation and fervant prayer -- decided to pick up the sticks again and see what sort of noise I could still make. I was assured by several folk that it would all come back to me "like falling off a log." But that was my greatest fear -- it would sound like I was indeed falling of a log. But, rather like bicycle riding, it all came back and I had a great time flailing about and falling into the groove with the musicians at Main Street. I admit that my hands were sore and my legs certainly didn't have the spring in them that they once had --- but whatta' ya' want? I'm 51!

In the meantime, the construction work on the church continued while I was away and Tim's crew did a marvelous job of finishing the front entrance and new foyer. As I was driving home yesterday afternoon, despite being weary and bone-tired, I went to the GCA building before I came to the house. I was just overjoyed with what I found. Updated pictures have been added to the "GCA Construction" photo album, which you can view here:
