Where oh where has respect and reverence for God's word gone? What was so wrong with what the original authors wrote that it needed to be modernized and amplified beyond what the original text declares?

As I said this morning, this is the sort of thing that makes our job even harder. Now we have to respond not only to human tradition and assumption, but to the various errant translations when we argue for "thus sayeth the Lord."
