And More Friends!

Our regular listeners got to hear James Guyo's testimony. The top photo is Tom, James, little Chichi tucked safely under her father's arm, and yours truly. The bottom photo is the same group, minus a guitarist.
I am ever-so-grateful for the friendship, fellowship and love demonstrated by the folk who take the time to come visit GCA. It's a tremendous encouragement and it makes the web effort worthwhile. So thank you, thank you, thank you!

It's Good to have Friends!

We were recently visited by some friends from W. Virginia. In the top picture, Paul and Sasha are standing in the midst of some of GCA's "Wednesday Night Faithful." The other photo is a happy old guy flanked by Megan and Sasha, standing outside the Opry Mills shopping center where Sasha acquired the coolest tennis shoes in the mall.
We're grateful for the fellowship and great joy of meeting likeminded folk. Thanks for the photos, Paul!

Conference Youth Choir

I'm getting into the conference mood. Listen to these young people sing praises. My friend, Barney Johnson, has exactly three afternoons to rehearse the kids and get them ready to perform on Thursday night.

I, on the other hand, had no rehearsal. As we were riding together to the evening meeting, Barney asked me to play drums. And it was great fun to do so. But, you'll see me occasionally straining to look over my left shoulder and catch cues from him.

It's nearly time to go to Lexington again. What joy!

Resurrected Choir

One of the highlights of the Sovereign Grace Bible Conference each year is the singing. Grace people sing with gusto. And the Resurrected Baptist Church Choir out of Chattanooga demonstrate what happens when people sing with all their hearts. 14 people filled the room like a choir of 100. This is exactly what King David must have meant when he instructed "make a joyful noise unto God."

Enjoy.

It's Nearly Conference Time

As hard as it is to believe, the annual Sovereign Grace Bible Conference is less than a month away. Every year the conference meets during the first full week of August. And the teaching, preaching, and fellowship are always outstanding. If you're going to be anywhere near the Lexington, KY. area, you owe it to yourself to come by. All sessions are open to the public.

The schedule of teaching and preaching is now posted on the conference website. You can visit the site here:

Conference Website

This will be my fifth year preaching at the conference. It's always an honor to be included in the preaching schedule, which this year includes some of my best friends and favorite preachers. Anyone familiar with GCA knows the name Barney Johnson, who will be preaching Thursday morning. And David Morris will be the daytime teacher, teaching all week on the subject of sanctification. Elder Roger Skepple is the evening teacher and his past lessons have been a great encouragement to me, so I'm looking forward to hearing what he has planned this year. He'll be teaching on discipleship. Anyway, to see the whole schedule, just click over to the site.

The last two years I had the great fun of playing drums, accompanying Michelle on the organ -- the woman with the funkiest left foot I've ever heard. If they need me, I'll play again this year. But I'm also going to be encouraging the young drummers to put their talents to use for the benefit of the conference.

This a time of year I always look forward to. I've been attending this conference for 11 or 12 years and I always come away renewed, refreshed in the word, and grateful for having been in the company of so many preachers and believers -- brethren in His sovereign grace.

I hope to see you there. And if we've never met, make sure to come say hello!
