2009 Conference Messages

Okay, okay ... you can stop asking now! Yes, the messages from the 2009 Sovereign Grace Bible Conference are all going to be posted on the conference website. I've received the DVD's from the good folk at Main Street and have begun creating the mp3 files. It's a real-time process uploading the audio into my computer, so it will take a couple of weeks to get them all posted on the site. Andrew continues to do a great job with the website and the comments and feedback we received this year at the conference was very positive. Here's the link:

Amazing Grace: Lane's Resource of the Month

Last week I contacted Lane Chaplin to arrange getting this year's conference message posted on YouTube. He asked if I'd be willing to participate in a promotional video for his "resource of the month." Well, I was happy to do it. Then he said that he needed it by that evening. So I sprang into action (or at least as close I ever come to springing). Camera, tripod, lights, a few takes, some quick editing and voila.

Actually, I added a little joke at the end of the clip. Lane replied with an email full of "LOL's." But, as they were constructing the video, the tone was pretty somber and reverent, so my joke was a bit out-of-place. Perhaps I'll post it myself -- or it can be part of Lane's future "gag reel." :-)

Watch the video and then, if you don't have it already, go order the DVD. It actually is a very good product and my recommendation is quite genuine.

Conference Photos

Well, the 26th Anniversary of the Sovereign Grace Bible Conference has come and gone. But I have cherished memories of our time together. I've posted a collections of pictures from the conference on my Picasa site. Some were taken by Megan, others were taken by Mike, and others were sent to me from the Guyo family. If you have pictures you'd like to add to this collection, just email them and I'll post them. I haven't had time to caption them or identify the folk in the photos. I'll get to that at some point.

Just click on the title of this post above (click on the words "Conference Photos") and you'll be taken to them.

Enjoy!

Prepping for Lexington

I don't know how many of our email correspondants also read this blog, but I just wanted to drop a quick note here to remind folk that I'll be leaving for the Sovereign Grace Bible Conference on Monday. I'll be returning on Saturday, Lord willing. During that time I won't be answering email, so don't become discouraged if you write to me and don't receive a timely reply. My email builds up when I'm away and then it takes some time to play catch-up.

I'm looking forward to hitting the road Monday. It's a good break from the usual routine. Meg will be going with me again this year, which makes the drive easier -- plus, she's very good company. She has become a fixture at the conference and most of the people who greet me in Lexington follow up with, "So where's your daughter?" Between the two of us, she's clearly the more popular.

Today and tomorrow I'll be packing and prepping. I'll be preaching at GCA Sunday morning and visiting with some out-of-town friends after the service. Then, it's back home to finish packing the car and preparing for our hotel stay. I usually don't sleep particularly well in hotels, so pray for our endurance, safe travels, and that the Lord will bless all of the teaching and preaching at this year's gathering.

I'll be speaking on Wednesday, August 5, at noon. Preaching at this conference in years past has been a great joy and privilege. This year, I believe I'll be addressing the subject "The Irresistible God." God is irresistible in all of His attributes and activities. The fact that His grace is beyond resisting is simply consistent with everything else we know and read about Him. It should be fun.

So, keep those cards and letters coming! Well ... okay ... keep those emails coming! But, give me sufficient time to get back to you.

Thanks to all of our correspondants and supporters around the globe. You make the effort worthwhile!
